So I've been gone again... like what's new right? However, I haven't been idle. I've been working on some really nice projects and hopefully I would like to share my journey here. So far I've made a bomber Jacket/sweater, 2 sister dresses and a lovely kaftan. The creative process takes about 10-15 hours to realize for each dress. I've also pretty much did these back to back which was quite strenuous because I've never done so many projects in such a short span of time (I'm going to have to get use to it if I, eventually, make this a permanent thing). Not complaining, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I poured out all my heart into my work which is why I believe my creations to be special. And since that does take quite some time, I need breaks to rest in between.
I just love seeing my little creations come to life. I literally designed everything, created my own patterns. Ad. Lib-ed most of everything and it still worked out to what I had in mind. Obviously, there's some things that went wrong that needed corrections or added to my frustration but it's exhilarating! When I sew, it's like I travel to my own private world where time doesn't exist. I can be easily working on a dress and next thing, 10 hours have gone by and I didn't even notice. I just love it. It's my "escapism" if you will. Except it's married to my passion! My only problem is I forget to eat. And that's by accident. So I'll be like working on a project and start to feel an uneasiness, where I done really know whats wrong, to which I'll naturally ignore because it's not hunger pains. Then I'll glance at my phone to check the time and like 10 hours have gone by since my last meal. Hahaha!!! I have to laugh because if I keep this up I'll most likely lose weight, because I won't be eating out if boredom, just out of necessity.
PS. I do keep a sugary drink by my side usually which is most likely why I don't feel hungry pains.
Anyways...
So for the month of May 2017, I officially made the bomber sweater/jacket and the sister dresses. I did start on the the mauve kaftan but I just finished phase 1 yesterday (phase 2 is adding the embellishments ei. beads, rhinestones, etc). This month, June 2017 (which is also in majority the Holy Month of Ramadan), I will be completing phase 1 of the periwinkle-navy kaftan and I'm also hoping that I will be able to make a new abaya/dress as a gift to myself. The projects will certainly keep me distracted from wanting to eat during the Fasting time period.
*I will be posting near the end of August the details of my projects.
Dress Lovely, be lovely
